Our Opinion

It’s not every day you get to celebrate your sesquicentennial, and with Canada turning 150 several brands decided to show their patriotic colours. Quite literally in the case of Canadian Tire, whose ad promotes a special set of red- and white lights they produced for the occasion. Ads tapping into national sentiment have done well this year, and this is the clearest example on the list, a commercial that is nothing more than patriotic sentiment, imaginatively expressed. Not every campaign is designed to travel.
