Thai mobile operator dtac wowed global audiences in 2014 with their “Power Of Love” ad about a newborn baby. Its simplicity and emotional connection won it a slot in 2014's FeelMore50. 2015’s dtac campaign, “How Your Parents Fell In Love”, sticks with the parenting theme from a different angle – it’s a very simple film, with middle-aged Thai couples just telling their stories of life and love. But that simplicity hasn’t harmed it – emotionally, it’s even stronger than “Power Of Love”, giving dtac a rare emotional winning streak which pushed it to number one on our regional Asia chart in last year. The theme of the campaign is “come together” – making connections between couples, parents and children, and ultimately generations with very different life experiences. It’s the range of stories – from very traditional marriage proposals to chance meetings – that makes the ad so rich in Feeling. But it’s the connections between them that make it a natural fit for a phone company.
