Our Opinion

Some pre-game commentators labelled the 2019 Super Bowl ads as “The Year Of The Woman”, anticipating a wave of explicitly empowering ads. Love or hate that slightly patronising framing, the prediction didn’t really come true. But CBS’ PSA for the Girls Inc. non-profit was an empowerment ad which did air on the night, using its 20 seconds for a stirring message and an event-themed visual metaphor.
