McDonalds don’t just sell burgers, they sell carrot sticks. If you didn’t know that before you watched this ad, you soon will. But from this potentially unpromising concept McDonald’s craft a winning commercial, showing a Dad and daughter getting ready for Christmas and the girl’s determination to put her vegetable snack to festive use. The ad winds up with a strong 3-Star score. Could it have gone higher? Perhaps. The ad’s length is a big factor behind those viewers who felt Neutral, and given that the story’s a simple one, perhaps an edit could have slimmed it down to its highly emotional core.
