Michelob Ultra’s Super Bowl ad earned its 4-Star rating thanks to its clever and effective use of a familiar soundtrack. By juxtaposing images of athletes training hard and working out with the famous theme song from classic bar sitcom Cheers, Michelob made its point subtly and emotionally: this is a light beer for a hard-working, health-conscious era, but it still brings the same camaraderie beer always has. A well-chosen soundtrack can make a great emotional ad – here’s the proof.
