Our Opinion

The NFL’s ad celebrating its centenary using 40 veteran players shows the brand at its most lavish and entertaining. The football league’s ads almost always do well – their marketers know they have to rise to the occasion on the brand’s biggest night. This year’s effort had an extra job to do: calm the troubled waters of a controversial year following players’ anthem protests. Rather than lean heavily on a diversity message – though it’s present and correct – the NFL went all out for entertainment and nailed a 5-Star ad centered on a simple insight: what players really love is playing.
